Turkish Southern Border Safe zone.

Turkish President Erdogan has announced a renewed effort to create a 20 mile “safe zone” on the southern border which is currently occupied by SDF forces. SDF forces are supported by US forces and Biden has pledged to help. Turks see them as a problem, an extension of the PKK.

Seems with Russia occupied in Ukraine the deal brokered by Russia between the Turks and SDF is no more and Biden is changing US stand post Trump.

Any insight or thoughts on the recent announcement by Turkish leaders.

The Kurds never seem to learn their lesson.
Anytime the USA wants to destabilize somewhere they rush in and give a bunch of weapons and money to the Kurds and urge them to "revolt" and then back them for a short time. Then once we have gotten what we want, we give the folks we used them against a wink and a nod to go slaughter them all.

The Kurds were pawns in the failed attempt at regime change in Syria as well as pawns in Iraq earlier.
Now that those pits of human suffering for profit are all played out and not good for more corporate profits, the cycle will continue.
The Turks have a genocidal hatred for the Kurds and eventually the USA will be like, fine do what you want, just keep it quiet.
Syrians won't cry too loud about a minority that sided with a foreign enemy getting wiped out.

Yeah and the Kurds are some of the few people over there who are worth a shit too. Now the Democrats will let Erdogan steamroll them.

I believe so, they have communist based beliefs.

I want to add not all Kurds are part of these groups. Turkey has around 15 million Kurds living there that are just normal people. Kurds are an ethnic group and they can’t all be lumped into one category of political ideology

Theres a communist group that has been fighting the turks for decades but its pretty small. Lots of other groups in defacto “kurd controlled” regions of iraq/syria most supported by the west.

Other groups hate the kurds for fuckall knows why (its the mideast) so without western support they will have a tough time.
