being blood, i had the options in regards to certain benefits. i have rejected it at every point it has come up, for two main reasons. #1. i wasnt taught the heritage. #2. i have absolute disgust at the way i see the state of affairs on the reservation. from the way the land is abused, to the way many tribal members treat others (outsiders and each other), to the “oh, woe is me, feel sorry for me, exempt me from any and all expectation of self worth and pride” i see on display from sad sack fuckheads like the “war drummer” shitbag.
i do know some very quality people that are tribal members, so i dont want to paint with a broad brush. it just seems that there are too many motherfuckers trying to trade their honor for some “benefits”. and then this shit....a grown man, who should value honor...and display it. instead, he is running around trying to make his bones of some little kid’s back.

All I saw was 4 racist blacks and some natives arguing. Then when their argument stagnated, they turned their attention to the "crackas". The one black said..."Your time is coming cracka!" Sounded like a threat to me. Not to mention all the other homophobic and racist comments hurled from the blacks, towards both the whites, and the natives.
CNN/MSM were just mad that the couldnt get a rise out of the "crackas". So they painted them as "aggressive" anyway. The kids did the right thing. As a matter of fact, it was a perfect response. They turned the situation against them. And showed both the racist blacks and the ignorant natives, they werent going to let them ruin their day.

Supposedly, Philips is a former "recon ranger". If there is any stolen valour going on then that's about the size of it, he's never been quoted to have said he fought in or during Vietnam, just that he was a recon ranger Marine during the Vietnam era.

By '57 we had Force Recon, but they didn't even fill the same role as the Raiders had in WW2, they were actually observation oriented and derived their place on the battlefield from the missions of the forward observer and combat intelligence gathering. Granted, in the second Iraq war they were basically used as shock troops, but that's neither here nor there. It's not really something you get confused, is what I mean to say, and it's certainly not an official designation that I have ever seen.

in the army we just call them scouts, we give them no armor and a lot of ammo and send them out to see who starts shooting at them, there are Marines that actually make it through Ranger School but very few as the Navy wont give them money to send more than that. Looking at this douche bag, he talks enough shit to be a Marine but does not have the demeanor of a combat arms marine
USMC had BN Recon and Force Recon.
I can not imagine a Recon Marine ever referring to himself as a Ranger.
Im sure a few have attended the school and been tabbed but the ethos calls for him (sorry for the gender assumption to anyone I have triggered) to refer to himself as a Reconnaisance Marine or Scout Sniper perhaps.
Raiders as a term has only been resurrected in the last decade. Shame they took their skull away and replaced it with an eagle designed by the same guy that did the Patriots patriot logo.
Vietnam era Marine that did not spend time in Vietnam refers to a not so good time in the military and the USMC in particular. Most of my Staff NCOs were enlisted in that era they mentioned trying times with personel that were less than stellar performers.
I read it in a way that he's going out of his way to work it into the conversation and is underlining the honorifics (as in grammar) of the terminology. Granted, the Marines do throw around the word "recon" like it's a rubber dick, but not the term "ranger". Ranger is a term for an element or person that actually attacks, there is no unordinary observation capacity in their role. I don't get the impression he's using slang or casual terminology, but that's just my opinion.
