Twist for 24" 260?

Re: Twist for 24" 260?

Either, I went 1-8.5 cause it was in stock, Terry Cross uses 1-8.5 I believe, others like 1-8".

Given the altitudes of CO, if I was ordering a barrel, I'd go 1-8" just to be sure I could do it all.

ditto on 8.5; 24" Benchmark barrel built on a FN SPR action in a Mcm. HTG; 140 grain holes touching on paper without trying too hard........

Built by Dave Sink of Lexington, NC.

Re: Twist for 24" 260?

I went 8 twist on my 6.5 Creedmoor and it has worked very well for me with 140s. I would error on the side of caution and go 8". Won't hurt anything with the heavier bullets.

Xactly. Mine's an 8 twist 22" Rock and shoots the 100's mighty fine too.

Re: Twist for 24" 260?

I went with an 8 twist for my new .260. I was also running an 8 twist in my old 6.5 Creedmoor and it worked just fine.

Re: Twist for 24" 260?

I'll be doing most of my shooting at 9000ft or higher, live at 9860ft. Sounds like there will be little difference, good results with either twist. I'll go 1-8.
Talked to Bighorn Actions this AM, going to go with his action, like giving my business to a local guy when I can.
