a new build i am doing is for the .30cal 110vmax and 125 nosler,
been told that 1-15 twist is best , but is there a compromise twist to allow 155 lapua or 168 amax, for 1000y target
or am i just asking to much!

Re: twist rate ? 1-15

If you go to Berger Bullets website, Link:
Berger Target Bullets

They list the recommended minimum twist rate for their full bullet line, for example:

30 cal:

110 gr match 1-19"
125 Gr Match 1-19"
155.5 Full Bore 1-14"
168 Gr VLD 1-13"
175 Gr VLD 1-13"
So with Berger your compromise twist would be 1-13" if you wish to shoot up to the 175 gr VLD or LRBT bullets.

I'm not sure about the A-Max's, but Berger's guide should serve you well.

You could also use this to manually calculate stability with the JBM provided Miller stability formula, found here:
