I'm about to pick up a Gemtech Sandstorm in the next few months. Rather than thread my tired .308 factory barrel, I'm planning to have an aftermarket installed.

I plan to work up a sub-sonic load.

My intuition tells me that I should run a 1:10" barrel. Will this suffice? How much difference will this make over an 11.25" barrel?

10 will work and be versatile for supers and subs. But if dedicated sub gun, one in 8.5 or 9 would be preferred. Trailboss seems to be the preferred powder. I use a 200gr hard cast lead bullets for terminal performance in a one in 10 twist. Have fun and the one downfall is that these cans seem to breed in the safe.

1 in 10 will work for almost anything, with the benefit of supersonics as well, but if you want to push the slow and heavy 220-240's, go 1 in 9.
