wherever I may roam...
I have an old j.c. higgins .22 and was wondering if anyone knew the twist of this rifle? I've looked but haven't been able to find much, as my google-fu is weak. All I have found is the sears/j.c. higgins model41 is equivalent to Marlin 101. j.c. higgins script was stopped around '65, not much else known. At least I've not been able to find. Ayy help/info is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: twist rate ?

if you can't find an "official" twist rate as that seems to be a toughie, do this:

1. cleaning rod
2. make a straight line on one side with a sharpie.
3. put a cleaning jag on with patch and/or brush
4. slowly slide down barrel
5. when the line you drew makes 1 complete revolution, mark it on the rod.
6. meaure from the beginning of the rod to where you made the 1 complete revolution mark, that'll give you a close "1 in so many inch of twist" rate.
7. do it a few times to confirm.
