Still misleading. Hardly anyone will have one in hand.

not that handguns matter to hardly anyone in the military anyway.

It matters to '60 gunners, a 1911 is a lot easier to carry through the chow line when you're in the rear.

The lippard link is interesting. I wish there was a review somewhere from anyone credible to compare it to a standard link.

$22million is $55,000 per pistol at 400 pistols. If the Lippard gun is worth a crap, it should get the nod with that sort of budget.

$1833.00 if they bought all 12,000. Still pretty pricey for a contract that size.

Hard to imagine how far the dollar used to go when $18.00 bought them the original 1911/1911A1

Re: U.S.Marines readopting the 1911

Looks like only Recon Marines will get it. Dunno I am skeptic. Doesn't matter to me much cause the Army and Army NG has no plans to replace the M9 anytime soon. It is nice that some of the new M9's Ive seen come into my armory have a rail for weapon lights. Happy Me. Sadly they screwed up with replacing the metal guide rod with a polymer guid rod WTH! Personally I like the M9 great pistol other than the weight. I mean ounces count on a road march. Really I'd like to have a 1911 for the termal ballistic propertys (especally when shooting ball) and there's the "cool factor" a 1911 brings that you just cant get with an eyetie job.

My issued M9 is so screwed up it's ridiculous. I usually use someone else's to qualify, but I'm NG so there's no funding to replace or even fix our weapons. More so because my unit isn't deploying anytime soon.

Re: U.S.Marines readopting the 1911

That does suck. What sucks worse is I am currently in a pogue unit that will have very little need of the new weapons and my spidey senses tell me that our infantry companys are sill using Gulf War throwbacks. I guess Ill find out in September after my knee surgery and I get my grunt azz out of pogue land USA and back into a combat arms unit.

Recon gets them but most go to MARSOC. The USMC is still building all the 1911's that we have.
