I guess the big news was that Randy Couture (lost and) announced he's retiring. I personally count that a good thing because he's been fighting on pure pride for the last couple of years. Since the Coleman fight (the two of them were 91 years old!!), it's been obvious he still might win the odd fight but he's a pale shadow of the champion he once was. At least he didn't have to get KTFO'ed as many times as Chuck Liddell before he got the message.
The bookies had both Aldo and GSP 5-to-1 favorites so no big surprises there. Except that Hominick was such a gamer! I can't believe he got brutalized for four rounds, then posed a threat to win in the fifth.
The gate was $12 million. Dana White is a genius.
UFC 130 has some interesting matchups. I'm especially keen to see frank Mir against Roy Nelson. Stefan Struve (6'11") will be fighting (6'7") Travis Browne. If anybody but John McCarthy (6'4") referees that fight, it'll look like Mickey Rooney reffing an NBA game.
