UGSW Perseus and Thunderbeast 30P-1 Range Report

Background: I finally got my Underground Skunkworks, AKA Black Ops Technology, and my Thunderbeast 30P-1 together for the first time. I ordered the Skunkworks Perseus in Oct 2010 and deployed to Iraq for a six month tour. It was ready upon my return and then I put in the order for the Thunderbeast. That took eight months to get the suppressor: two months to get it to the dealer and then six fror the ATF and finally they are together - I am working on patience

This is a fine shooting rifle that Mike Bush and crew put together and it is very handy with the 20" barrel. And Bella the Collie too.

Specs:
UGSW Perseus - Left Handed
Barrel - Bartlein 1:10 - 20" - threaded 5/8 x 24 TPI
Manner's T4A Stock
Timney Trigger
USO SN3 3.2 x 17- MOA Type 1 Reticle
Thunderbeast 30P-1

Left is a 1" paster and it has 10 rounds in it and the right is 5 rounds. The accuracy is there I just need to bump the speed a tad to get up to +2550 - 2600...looks like I need to go 1/4 to 1/2 MOA left to center it.

This is my first attempt at loading for the rifle:
Winchester 748 - 44 Grains
2.835 COAL - 2.20 Ogive -
178 AMAX hits the lands at 2.845
It shot well but was a little light on FPS:
1:2530, 2:2520,3:2510, 4:2520, 5: 2506

I am going to bump it up to 44.4-44.7 and see where I go with the FPS and accuracy.

If you find yourself in the need for a build take Mike Bush and Black Ops into consideration. It is one tight rifle. The Thunderbeast works great with this rifle. This is my first thread on and I will never go with a QD again. I have QD's and this one blows it away - no comparison.

I played hookie from work today to go to the range and play...I know my boss doesn't read Sniper's Hide anyway.

Congrats on the getting them together. I also played hookie.to play with my newly modded rifle but I only sent off my paper work for my 30ba today. Im going to keep a eye on this thread to see what you end up with on your 300WM load.

Very nice set up.

On a side note... Have you had any experience with the 30-BA? I just put my order in for one to run on a couple semi's.

I shot one of the Perseus rifles when they first came out, very impressed with everything about that rifle. Congrats on a fine rifle!

My other 30 cal suppressor is the Gemtech HVT. It takes a little while to get it to settle in - seems to get tighter as it heats up. I have it on a DPMS SASS and it can give me fits on the range but then it heats up and gets in the grove...need to work with it more. I had it out yesterday with a new scope so I was trying to zero the rifle. Those groups were not so good compared to these but I did have some decent five round groups but not all. I think I need to work with the semi more to get it more consistent. I could be the problem -

Glad to see it all come together.</div></div> Icallem, this is just the Perseus that I got back and it is a hammer. I am waiting on the Recon and I figure it will be in the May-June time frame. I am sure it is going to be on the same level.

The waiting game is great.
Mike was ready to send the 308, when I found out the QD for the aac is 51 tooth rather than the 18 tooth that I had him install. Now waiting on the 51 tooth which is on back order until 3/31/12 at Midway.

Tell me again about that "patience"!

Never been a big fan of black, but I have always loved your gun. The black and green go well together and the TBAC just sets it off even more.

I feel the same way about my SAC build. It's my first, true precision gun and I already got to do so much with it. It just has a special place in my heart, hopefully I'll never have to part with it.
