I am curious to hear feedback on those who have used an Ultra 7 223 specifically on an AR in the 16" range. I am very familiar with the TBAC specs and all of their youtube videos. My questions are mainly in regards to the temperature threshold and how much additional back pressure the Ultra adds to the system. Would a rate of fire that may be found in gas gun PRS and similar activities get up there towards that 800 degree area prompting an extended cool down period or is it not much of a concern? I am not doing mag dumps, but the 5.56 suppressors I am used to have never given me a reason to even think about it. Additionally, what kind of back pressure increase do you guys see from unsuppressed? Would a well-tuned unsuppressed setup still be good when adding the Ultra or is its pressure more significant? I am not looking to have adjustable gas blocks. My experience is with Knight's NT4's, various Surefire models, and Ops Inc, so I want to stick with being able to set a rifle up with the right buffer and forget about it whether the suppressor is on or off.

I already own an Ultra for larger calibers, so I am already sold on them. My main interest for my 5.56 application is the lightweight of the Ultra, I just want to make sure the typical use isn't going to be an issue for the heat rating.

Thanks!

Have you watched the heat heat videos I posed? I did some on a 14.5" and another on an 18". You should be able to put an Ultra 7 223 on an AR without any major issues. I have a 16" Sabre that I run one on without any mods at all. It does make it a bit more gassy but nothing unmanageable. The 223 U7 does suppress very well at the muzzle.

Yes sir, I have them seen them a few times. I am probably just being over-paranoid, it's just something I have never had to give any thought to before. Based on your videos, I guess my question should be how long did it take the suppressor to cool back down? And when firing in somewhat of a normal fashion for precision gas guns in something like a DMR match rate of fire, what would you say going from "warm" to "too hot" would entail? Maybe half a mag or less? Sorry for the confusion, I am just trying to form words and scenarios out of what I am concerned with...

When firing in a normal fashion on a precision gas gun I don't think its much of an issue at all. I did two mags pretty fast on a 14.5 and that got the can 800. Cooling will depend on conditions. A cold windy day cools much faster than 90 degrees and no wind. I guess if you are concerned with not over heating the barrel you won't overheat the can. I think in the 18" video a slower more steady rate never got the can to hot.

I recently put an Ultra 9 on a HK MR762A1. A LOT of gas in the face!! Going to start wearing goggles!! I do shoot left handed so I’m sure I’m getting more gas than a righty.
