Rifle Scopes UNERTL MST SSDS, US OPTICS MST-100 or Unertl W/ USO upgrade

Sorry dont have experience with either version Unertl (modified vs unmodified) but truth be told if there was a history of at least one M40A1 mounted with the S&B 3-12X50 PMII I wouldnt be in the scope hunt right now......well I might be because the Unertl/MST100 just looks cool (and right) on that gun.

My Weaver 10X is working out real well for me and things will only get better with the MST 100 being able to dial for daily conditions rather than screwing with capped turrets. Im finding 10X is plenty of mag to make a bullet hit something but if looking to make groups, more mag would be better.

When our scopes started needing batteries, I was done with them. I think the M40A1 siloutte with Unertl is the trade mark LOGO for sniper rifles all over the world. I own some SBs but I RARELY use them. I use my Original Unertl far more than anything else in the safe. MST-100 on the M40A1 looks good too, but I think the zero retaining spring addition takes from the scopes lines.

I'm with you on this, brother. I think the man hole cover ruins the look too.

And the 8 1/2 MOA windage knob is unnecessary and makes finding center by feel take quite a bit longer. No need to have more than 3 1/2 MOA windage when using the mil-dot reticle, on the rare occasions I feel the need to tweak that knob at all. I guess the 4 1/2 MOA knob allows one to fine tune a field windage zero (when you don't have time to play with allen wrenches) and still have 3 1/2 MOA to play with for wind adjustments. (Where's John U. when we need him?)

If I had the dough to buy one, I'd MUCH rather have one entirely of the original Unertl design.
