Update- Making A Cover for the Leupold Mk4 Spotter

So I have been waiting for the release of the Badger mk 4 spotter cover. So I just siad what the heck I will just make my own.

So far it's just me setting up and a making a quick attempt to get the layout for the pattern.

I have coyote brown Cordura on hand. It looks like it will work but I'm going to make a few changes to the final layout to make the pattern easier to cut and sew.

i need to make the cover for the eyepiece. After that I'm just waiting on some Velcro and shock cord.

Yes! I know the stitching looks like crap, I just did it fast and dirty to get the layout. The final over will be cleaned up


Updated pics. I worked on the pattern yesterday. I think I pretty much have it done except I'm waiting on Velcro to sew on the flaps to secure it. Let me know what you guys think. I know the stitching is still a mess. My machine does not like Cordura at all. Especially when it is more than one layer. It's a cover and made to keep things protected, and it's my first try a sewing!


Update!

i finished my cover. Pics are here. I messed up the stitching on the bottom. You can see that. My machine just couldn't handle the material. So in turn I ended up buying a used industrial machine and upgrading it with another motor. Now mayoral thinkness is not a problem.


I also ended up making a cover for my Rugged Surge. It's just a mirage cover. I did sew in some fire resistant material inside, so I hope that I can get between 10-15 shots before mirage is to heavy. I will probably try it out tomorrow.

I think your stitching looks great, nice work. Can you tell me who makes your mounting ring and pic rail adapter around the front? I saw the spuhr one and it's a little expensive($289?).

Yes the slick mount isn't cheap, but it is worth it

I have the Kestrel on one side, and the DeltaPoint pro on the top makes quick to get on target.

I saw the badger cover at Shot this year. I really liked it and wanted one.

There were a few things I did not like. I didn't like the way the bungees were routed inside the cover. I felt that those were just extra holes waiting to tear. That is why I made mine with loops sewn as attachment points. I felt it would be a little more robust.

I also didn't see the need for the front flap to cover the slick mount on the front. So I didn't bother making one.

Overall i I think the badger cover I saw at Shot show was really nice! I honestly just didn't want to wait any longer and I wanted to try and make my own.

I actually wanted to do it in multicam, but the cost of fabric was to much, so I chose coyote.

Now that I have a good pattern, I may do a few more. I will definitely make them a little more simple and easier to make as this one took about a total amount of 15 hours of time to make.

I just made a second suppressor cover for my friend and it took me about 45 minutes from start to finish and my first took about 3 hours.
