So I'm looking to build an upper on an AR10 platform to bang steel out to 1k. Im looking for any advice. Im thinking 308 or 6.5cr. I would like to keep the barrel at 20". Im leaning to the 6.5. Any and all advice is accepted. I will be new to gas guns at distance.

Which Large Frame Lower ? I case you don't know, there are no meaningful "Mil-Spec" guidelines for Large Frame AR's .. so not every part is as "plug and play" as AR15's.

And ( IMHO ) a 6.5CM will be easier to shoot at 1K, less recoil, less drop and wind deflection then most 308 rounds.

An Adj. GB is a very helpful add-on, Dependent on your gas port size and / or location. Easier on the brass, you , follow up shoots, parts.. etc.

And... gas guns require more "training curve" at the bench then bolt guns... so plan on a decent amount of practice.

The 6.5 is definitely the better choice. I may even look at a 243 or 6xc in a ar10 platform if it’s for banging steel. I shoot a 260 and my wife has a 6xc going together. It’s hard to beat 6mm 115 dtac ballistics out to 1000 yards.

I have an Odin works 6.5 , 22 inch. It definitely is MOA as it says. Plus I was using American gunner 140 grain factory ammo.
