So I'm finally starting to build my SPR, and it's now time to decide on the barrel. I'll start out by saying this rifle's primary use will be for recreation and varmint hunting. That said, I'm trying not to go overboard, 1 moa is fine for my purpose. I've been looking at a dpms 18" 1/8 barrel at midway. It seems to have rave reviews. Also looking at the BCM 18" SPR barrel. I've heard absolutely nothing but good news about BCM. If you guys know of any other quallity barrels out there in the ballpark of $200-$300, I'm all ears. If you guys have pictures of your SPR's, please feel free to share.

Re: Upper build

+1 on WOA barrels. I have a complete WOA Comp Service Rifle upper and it shoots better than me out to the 600yard line I have shot it at in matches. One of the best for the money IMO.

Re: Upper build

I put a DPMS MK12 barrel on this budget build:

I'm hoping to get out and shoot it for the first time tomorrow. JSE surplus has them for around $150. You would need a barrel nut gas tube and gas block.

Re: Upper build

The WOA barrel looks pretty impressive, beautiful rifle by the way Proud Noob. I definately know better than to skimp out on my barrel, especially an SPR. I'm trying to keep this a budget build as best I can, so Noveske is out of my reach for now (I'm 22 and in college full time lol). Hey Jay, What optic you running?

Bushnell 3200 fixed 10X in a Burris PEPR mount

Re: Upper build

To be honest, I would spend the biggest part of your money on the trigger (highly recommend geissele) and a good barrel (highly recommend WOA). The other parts on the rifle won't do much for accuracy, except optics of course. What I mean is, most lower/upper receivers are the same. Don't get caught up in a brand name. I assume you already have a lower built for this rifle, since you are asking about an upper only. Again, the main thing I would change on the lower is the trigger, unless you already have a good one installed.

Re: Upper build

Geissele DMR is exactly what I've been planning on using. I guess while I'm at it, what are your guys' opinions between the Millet DMS, Leupold Mark ar 1.5-4X20, and the Bushnell 3200 tactical? (not too sure I want fixed 10X though)
