US Ammo...Corrosive Primer date help

Re: US Ammo...Corrosive Primer date help

USGI ammo, right? I recognize that headstamp as including US military, but don't know whether they used it commercially too back then.

On commercial, I think Remington called theirs "Staynless" or something similar, don't remember what Winchester called their noncorrosive primed ammo.

I just read an article about that. They noted the different dates for conversion from corrosive to non-corrosive primers, but also noted that the change over dates were around 1952-53 or there abouts. And it only applied to 30-06 and 45 ACP ammo. The article also stated that ALL U.S. 7.62 nato ammo is non-corrosive, with the following exception:

1956 FA International Match (Frankford Arsenal)

Winchester's non corrosive priming was called "Staynless" and Remington's non corrosive primimg was called "Kleenbore".
