Rifle Scopes US Optics Scopes Break alot?

Ok, so I'm just getting into presision rifle and went to my first match. There we're two guys there who we're the "best" shooters there we're telling me that USO scopes break alot...

Is that true?

BTY, they we're using a NF and a Premier......

That was supprising to me.

The only way anyone could qualify such a statement would be to provide percentage failure rates of all brands, which will never happen.

You simply can't take hearsay as reliable evidence with such complex items as scopes.

Considering the variety of treatment they experience it's just impossible to know at the top tier which brand is less reliable than any other.

Talk to people on this site and you will hear that everyone has their own individual opinion of some brand that fails more than the others. Not surprisingly between two shooters these brands vary from one top tier manufacturer to another.

One good question is if your scope does fail, is the company going to take care of it?

Yeah right, and you'll probably find guys that drive Shelby Mustang Cobras that are down on Z-06 Corvettes also....

I'm fortunate, I can run any glass I like (price no object), tried all the "best", and ended up with USOs.... on all my serious use rifles.

Coming on here, as one of your first posts, relaying some silliness you hear at the range just seems like a poor decision.

Either this is a (bad)joke, someones second (troll) account or just a bad idea.

All makers have occasional defective products. USO is one of the best companies in the business and they make a great optic. World class from my experience. You should change your thread title to avoid acting an ass. My $.02

Funny USO is the one scope that I haven't broken yet ( I say yet because if you shoot long range at all you'll break scopes). I've broken Leupold, Nightforce, and the reticle on my MST-100 twice. I've owned 2 USO SN3's and they've yet to let me down.

I know that my USO will eventually break, and then I'll call Jeff and he fixes it so my decision is still an easy one to go with USO.

Did these self-proclaimed 'experts' also happen to mention that "we're" is a contraction for "we are". Not the same as the word "were". Or ware, wear, where. . .

Back to the question - I only have two USO scopes, so certainly not an expert. However, the ones I have could be used to pound nails and not suffer.

When a persons car breaks down they usually get it fixed and move on with their lives without a second thought other than the temporary inconvienience of it. For some reason when a person buys a scope from one of the major manufacturers they assume it should be indestructable. As soon as they have 1 problem with it that manufacturer all of the sudden makes crappy scopes that they will never buy again. I am just happy that if i spend $2500 on a scope most come with a no questions asked fix it for life warranty. Know any car manufacturers that offer that?

That being said, a consumer report of scope manufacturers would be a nice thing to have as i am sure some brands out last others.

I shoot competitive trap and once saw a Hall of Fame shooter come within one bird of winning a big shoot and thought I would glean some sage advice, he being an expert, by asking what happened with the target he dropped. He replied "I fucking missed it, what the hell did you think happened?"

That isn't really very useful.

For one, anyone can just vote however they want, no way to see through the bullshit.

Second, it has no way to account for percentages. For instance, how many Leupolds do you think are out there compared to USO or S&B? The cheaper the brands will have more scopes in circulation and the more expensive ones will have less, further skewing the results.
