I think I'm OK here, but just wanted to check myself

Last night I stuck a case (boo)....but I had a stuck case remover (yay)...and I was able to extract the case (yay)...but at the expense of the internal spindle/expander ball (which is now out of true and shattered, respectively, boo)

So, to keep going, I just removed the spindle on my full length sizer, and dialed it in to bump back the shoulders .0015". Then I dropped my neck sizer into the turret press. So, now I can hit up the necks and deprime as an additional operation.

That is 2 pulls of the handle to do what is usually a 1 pull operation...but it seems like it should work OK until I can get a new spindle from Redding.

What do you all think?

It depends on if the neck gets damaged from extraction (semi) or from the fall to the ground and lands on the neck to deform it. If the neck is still nice and round there is no need for the expander ball at all.

If the F/L die and the N/S die are the same brand, couldn't you swap out the spindle assembly from the N/S die into the F/L die and keep using just the one die?

The only down side I can see at the moment for using the two dies is running the expander ball twice through the twice sized neck, but it should work.

DO yourself a favor and order a carbide button kit from Redding if you can, it does reduce the internal friction in the case neck. I run them on all my dies.
