I just added an AccuTac monopod for bench shooting. While I like the vertical adjustment, it's tendency to walk is a little frustrating. Has anyone come up with a way to minimize or eliminate this issue?

Is a mono pod the herpes of rifles. No matter how many people are educated on how they aren't good there is always a new case

Thats helpful, thanks for sharing. Maybe, just maybe, there are other applications for a rifle than shooting PRS, I've heard tell of big game hunting and such, some with 2 legs. And just maybe, there are other methods to obtain and hold a sight picture than your method of choice. And then there is the weight consideration..... not everybody rides a golf cart to the firing line.

Monopods are definitely not for everyone and every purpose - but they definitely have specific situations where they are the best answer.

I'm going to guess you meant Accu-Shot Monopod. Try this, adjust sight picture so you are a little high on your desired point of aim, then grab the knob, just a little low, so the heel of your hand is now between bottom of knob and the bench, this will depress the muzzle, then by flexing the heel muscle you will change elevation. You can do this at home to understand technique. if the knob is not perfectly perpendicular to the stock, it will "walk" in a circular manner. Treat that monopod like its a steering wheel, use it to "steer" rifle into target then hold it while making the shot.

My bad. I should have said Accu-Shot, not Accu-Tac.

By the way, this was my first post on this forum and I thought it was called Sniper's Hide, not Snarker's Hide... Thanks for all of the input.

I'm yet to ever see or hear of one. If weight is an issue a small bag filled with light fill is lighter than a monopod. To the op. If you are having issues with your mono pod try getting a small rear bag you can squeeze. They cost very little or you can even make one. A bag allows better and faster elevation controll and allows your rifle to recoil naturally.

I have a couple of Accu-Shot Monopod, Stud & Rail mount. I primarily shot from the bench 99% of the time.

For ”ME”, these monopods work best for zeroing my scope and steel targets MOA+

If I am shooting paper, I have better results (tighter groups) using a rear bag.

My $0.02

Thanks for the clarity on the name and your welcome, I'll also admit I am biased towards them and found them beneficial. Regarding those that share their "snarky" thoughts, often without experience nor wisdom in a way that is condescending or insulting, I've concluded it must be therapeutic for them or they simply have reading comprehension issues.... But the WWW is full of them and while the "hide" is not immune, it does have a strong immune system in it's membership. Lots of great folks here, you'll soon be able to discern those majority members from the fringe. Welcome aboard!

Find John McQuays video on using a monopod, don't lock it straight up and down but rather allow it to rest at an angle , holding it in your support hand, you'll have great vertical control and won't get the hop you would otherwise
