Is there a way to use the BTO length instead of COAL when working up a load in QuickLoad. I shoot a single shot rifle so I really have no need to measure the COAL except when I'm working in QL.

I don't think quickload takes into account the ogive. Just measure your bullet oal and h2o capacity in your case. You can change the length on the actual bullet as to what you have instead of what's the norm listed. And the h20 capacity as well. I always take a new piece of brass and put an upside down spent primer in the case. Weigh it then hit the zero button. Fill it full of water and it'll give you your h20 capacity and you can change that from the default settings quickload already has. For example 56 grains h20 for a .308 is more like 54 grains in a lapua case. Just my way of doing it.

Now you've brought up another question. I've always been told that when checking h2o capacity I needed to use "fired and un-resized" cases. When I do it that way, I do an average of 10 cases and for my Lupua brass I get 56.1 gr.

So which is the correct way to do it? Fired and un-resized or new brass?
