Using external power for pulsar n550

So I inherited an older pulsar n550 NV and the battery compartment was corroded and the backing plate screw broke off inside and can no longer take batteries.

There is a female DC power outlet on the side and a micro usb insert. Is it possible to Velcro a power bank to it and find a usb to DC cable?

Or another way to power it without batteries? Anyone done something similar?
