Does anyone have a USMC PROPERTY marked 40X for sale or photos of the markings on one. I know where there is one I can buy, but not sure about the markings. Or I would buy one that I know is right.
    Thank you

They are stamped USMC above serial number in place of where most are stamped US. Also they are all the 722 style actions and standard barrels. Don't recall there being anything else different from other production 40-X guns purchased by the branches.

I have three of them, two are marked U.S.M.C. PROPERTY, one is just marked U.S.M.C.

I have several other 40-X's that are marked US PROPERTY, U.S. PROPERTY and just U.S.

Are the letters a bit larger than the SN? The one I am looking at is I would guess about twice as large. Can you send or post a pic. Thank you.

I don't have any pictures of the guns I have now, but this is a close up of one I sold a fellow Hide member earlier this year.

There was a guy in southern CA putting a lot of fake markings on old rifles and 1911 pistols. I think his last name was Buehn or something similar to that. He would mark any old .22 rifle "PROPERTY OF U.S.A." and sell it as a military training rifle. It's really easy to tell if it's one of his guns if you have it in your hands because he used a pantagrach to cut the markings into the gun. Factory markings were either roll stamped or electropenciled. I have owned a couple of hundred US marked rifles and have yet to see a real one with "PROPERTY OF U.S.A." on it.
