Rifle Scopes USO rings, search foo is weak tonight.

Re: USO rings, search foo is weak tonight.

On a scope that is going to use quite a bit of erector travel, yes the abilltity to center the scope is helpful.

For a rifle that has a heavy recoil impulse with a break ,the screws would be nice to have the option to wire tie.

I drilled mine out to accept saftey wire.

I had a set and they are great rings, but I wouldn't bother with windage adjustable unless I had a receiver that was drilled wrong or a tube that wasn't concentric and needed them.
The set I had I just tightened the clamp on one side prior to mounting and used them just like a one-sided clamp, worked fine.

So am I safe to assume that the adjustment would not really be all that important if I'm putting a ST-10 on a Surgeon RSR with a Surgeon RSR base? I don't mind spending the money on USO rings, but if its not needed I can save some cash.

If it matters it will be a 20" braked .308

Thanks

Re: USO rings, search foo is weak tonight.

I have a set with an ST-10 nested in them...not a fan (of the rings the scope rocks).

Despite many PM's with the USO crew I CAN NOT wrap my brain around this being a good idea. Considering all the fuss made over lapping rings I cant see how you can precisly align a set of rings without putting some sort of stress on the scope tube.

I tried my best using torque wrenches and feeler guages to ensure the rings were as uniform as possible. There has never been any indication of missalignment from ring marks BUT the nagging voice in my head says they cant possibly be 100% inline.

If you overthink things just skip them LOL.

The scope and rings reside on permanent loan on my fathers rifle while I'm curently running a PR in BO rings on my AI, otherwise I would have sold the USO rings and got BO or Seekings a while ago.

Thanks for all the input! Sounds like I am going to skip on the USO rings. Seekins were my #2 choice
