I'm in the market for a new spotter and saw that USO had one with the perfect mag range and was available with moa reticle. I guide hunters and have to score deer on the hoof so I can't have too much clutter and good glass is a must. The reason for having a reticle is we like to shoot long range and I thought it would be nice for correcting misses. I have never looked through a USO, but have heard good things about their scopes and I like the fact they are a U.S. company. Is there something better in the $1,000 price range?

Re: USO spotting scopes

What ranges are you planning to use your spotter? My USO is plenty clear out to 600yds and with the Mil-MLR reticle its very easy to call out corrections for another shooter. The glass is good, but there are other units with better glass, but may not have a ranging reticle.

Re: USO spotting scopes

In my opinion the glass doesnt have enough clarity to view out that far and score a deer/elk with any kind of mirage. It was designed to be a field scope for observation, not counting the hairs on a bug's ass. But if you are just trying to range animals it might work for ya. All I can tell ya is I would try to look through one before dropping money on it.
