Where did you come up with 70% don't complete the course? Sounds like a BS rumour to me. It's a 2 day class and pretty straight foreward. I've shot USPSA for 4 years and I've been a certified RO for about 3 years or so. My class was with Gary Stevens if that matters.

In the 2 RO classes for NROI I've taken, everyone completed the weekend course. How they did on the take home exams, is not of my knowledge, but no one really had any difficulty in following the instructors and the rule book.

That said, experience as a competitor helps wade through the pages of the rule book more easily. However, the girl I was dating at the time, who never fired a round in USPSA, passed the course with flying colors, with no major help from me or others in the class.
