Re: UTAH SHOOTOUTS - May 8 - Practical Precision Rifle

Thanks to all who help set-up and run the match today. Was a great day on the range.

Snagly, you rocked that "time ticking away" stage. Long action and a magnum cal to boot. Look forward to your shoot at the end of the month.

Big THANK YOU to everyone that helps keep this match going. Had a great time, Lots of new stuff!

Stickboy, nice shooting man. I was very impressed with your ability to place shots from sitting and kneeling.

.308er, When you said newb I'm pretty sure you were trying to sandbag on us a bit, you were smacking the S#*T out of the steel! Well done hope to see you out again.

Re: UTAH SHOOTOUTS - May 8 - Practical Precision R

Ok guys I scouted out a new place to shoot Over the Edge. It's the top of ridge to the NE of us. I believe we can get steep 45 deg downward shots, as far as we care to shoot! It's about a 6 mile drive but you'll only need to walk as far as we did yesterday. That was, what, 40 yds? I'll bring my 6" round Action Target tripod as well as my 20"x15" LVsteel.com silhouette for a LONGER shot. This is what it looks like; the steel, not the ridge. That's for sure not 45 deg. I love the sound of those LV steel targets when hit. The way their hung, they make a nice, resounding "Goooonnnng!" when hit.

I don't have the 10" round anymore because I left it out where nobody could find it and some elk hunter did and took it.

How's that sound?

And girls, It was sure nice to see some fems show up. Next time, bring a rifle and shoot!

Thanks so very much to Craig and Stacy for helping me to get my steel out of that canyon! That was some finessed 4-wheeling down in there!

Re: UTAH SHOOTOUTS - May 8 - Practical Precision R

Better late than never. Detailed COF and scores for each target are on the website www.utahshootouts.com

In a nut shell, Robert kicked our butts. He got the only hit on the cold bore shot and the best 3 shot group.

Then there was the 10 shot hostage and a 5 shot sitting position.

There was 3 stages of steel on the 600 and 1000 yd ranges. First the usual 2 to 600 yd to get warmed up, then the same targets except in a mixed up order. 4 shooters got all 5 hits under time. But Eric did a lighting 16.71 seconds with all hits.

Then there was the UKD, 4 targets less than 1000 yds. Robert was the only one who got all 4 hits.

Then we did the first over the edge for several months. Because we were running out of time it was only one target with one shot. Almost everybody got a hit

We hurried over to the Law Enforcement range and did the first turning targets for several month also. They finally thawed out. Did two 5 shot stages at 5 pictures of hostages at 100 yards. Sitting position. Progressively shorter time to pull the trigger. From 5 seconds down to one second to fire the last shot.

Total Scores were:

1 - James - 228
2 - Cary - 229
3 - Eric - 241
4 - Clint - 198
5 - Alan - 221
6 - Chad - 144
7 - Jeff - 278
8 - Craig - 178
9 - Larry - 123
10 = Robert - 334
