Has anyone tried them. I know they are low buck but I have 4 kids and nowhere near the funds for an ACOG.

I would take a look at Vortex. They are a little higher priced than the UTGs but they have lifetime warranties and are quality made. You want be having to re zero everytime you pull your rifle out...

Glad y'all have heard of them and thanks for the info. I'm looking for a 0-300 dollar optic with some magnification. Not much maybe a 4x. Any ideas?

The Vortex Sparc and Strikefire come with a 2X "Doubler" that screws into the optic itself but you can also get their magnifier that mounts behind the red-dot which is 3x. Adding the magnifier will put you above your budget but you will definitely have some flexibility to run non mag/magnified. The magnifiers come with American Defense mounts which are really nice.

Mueller has a dandy 1-4x optic that should suit you just fine.

Another option would be the Millett 1-4x DMS.

i've used and sold utg in store !they have lifetime warranty.the 8x32 56mm 30mm functins well scopes under 100.00 avoid.by mid sept. utg is getting upgrades on all scopes inclding reticuls etched.i'wait on these!

WHAT??? Are you tellin him to buy it or that it functions well and then avoid it by mid September.
I say save your pennies, and buy better quality and if need be, buy a used good quality scope over cheap "lifetime warranty" scopes. To the quoted poster above, he is looking for a 1-4X not a 8-32X56. More is not better

Nikon has a new P-223 that is a 3x32 fixed compact scope for $149.99 Hard to beat it IMO.
