I have a bergara short action. Has been trued by a local Smith. Been running it for a few years but wanting a long action. May part out the rifle, just wanted an idea of the value of the action?

has a 20moa base and a spiral fluted bolt knob.

    4-500 bucks?

Its probably "better" than a rem 700 which can be had for 325 without a bolt knob (70 bucks) but whats so nice about a plain rem 700 is you can screw on a remage prefit yourself, no such luck with bergara and its coned bolt head. That knocks a 200 off its value for me because thats how much more it would cost to take it to a smith to rebarrel. So slightly better than a 325 remington makes it ~450 or so which is how much a trued rem 700 goes for.

Is the thread pattern for the barrel different? A basic Rem action after being trued is going to be $450+ and this action is 100x smoother than Rem.
I wish bergara would sell just their actions.

I forgot to add that I’ve had the firingpin hole bushed also. Bergara makes them very large

The thread diameters and pitch are the same as a rem 700 but that doesnt mean its the same tenon as a rem 700. Youre stuck having someone cut it special, unlike a remage.

And sure its trued but that doesnt mean anything to anyone other than the particular smith who "trued" it, especially without the actual data on what and how it was trued. In fact that probably just makes a barrel change more tedious for whoever has to put a new barrel on it.

Going to echo spife, 4-450 is it. The ones I've messed with were on par with a jeweled bolt older production rem. They're not super special, and I prefer how a tikka cycles, over a slick 700 or bergera.

Thats 400-450 for just the action and rail correct? no trigger included at that price? Im not letting my calvin elite go with it for 450 lol

You'll see some on the px here. What are you looking to build on a long action? The tikka is nice, swap out bolt stop and that converts short to long. I'm not familiar with long action ai mags with tikka, I'm pretty sure there are some limits.

I was set on a factory gun in 6.5PRC but most are short action and I’m kinda wanting to do a 7 saum, but on long action for the ability to seat the bullets longer
