I have a .308 custom rifle built for 1,000 yard BR on a Nesika Bay action. It is bedded in a red fiberglass stock, I think McMillan, but will verify. I have all the details. However, my question is a bit odd. Due to my new found friend at the IRS I need money. I am going to be forced to sell this rifle (have about 3K in to it). When he was working the campaign trail Fred Thompson made a stop at my friend's gun store in South Carolina. He signed the stock of this rifle in sharpie - big signature. CNN was there and he shouldered the rifle (which made it into the local paper, despite the fact it was not designed to be fired that way...).
My question is this: Does anyone feel that having Fred's signature, along with the online pics from the paper - and I can get notorized witness signatures if needed - adds value to the rifle for resale? If so, how much?
I appreciate any feedback. I obviously need to get the most I can for this, but do not want to be unrealistic.
