I hear about people getting good accuracy with DPMS & RRA, but I personally haven't been impressed with their 5.56 rifles. DPMS often has quality control and material issues that catch up to you over time, and RRA just tend to be pigs. I would build something if that's an option. There is an abundance of good barrels on the market now, and matched receiver sets are easy to find from CMT or Mega. Right there is half the rifle. Don't go nuts on a fancy rail, because you don't need it for a bench gun, splurge on a nice trigger, and scope out the EE on AR15.com for good deals on the rest of the parts. Buy what you can used, the rail and stock are perfect for a used purchase... You might end up spending a little more than 2k, but you won't be as disappointed down the road.
