Been useing Varget for 223 and 308.Wisconsin does have some temp. extremes. With the new progressive press it would be nice to use a powder that meters better, but the Varget seems to be so easy to get accurate loads with. Priorities-1 Accuracy 2-Temp. insensitivity 3-Flows easy. Hopefully someone has"been there/done that"

Not sure about other calibers, but in my 6PPC Benchmark loses its agging capability above 80 degrees. I only shoot it on cooler days. I'd stick with Varget, maybe try the new 8208 XBR.

Re: Varget, Benchmark, or TAC for 308and 223??

I have become fond of TAC, mainly because it is cheaper than the others and meters so much better than the extruded powders. Varget can be a PITA on a Dillon 550, as can other stick powders. TAC, on the other hand, flows like water.

I can't comment on the temp sensitivity, but I know the stuff is very accurate behind 75gr Hornady BTHPs out of my Savage 10FP. 24gr gives me sub 3/4" groups, but I cannot remember the velocity.

Tac worked very nicely for me with 175's in the .308, but I have gone to Big Game with 155's instead. Most of the rifles I shoot get one or another of the powders from Ramshot. Good velocities, clean burn, meter great.
