Just making sure I'll be safe using varget behind 168 smk, 175 smk, 178 gr amax bullets in my .308 ar?

I have been using imr 4895, but I would like to consolidate on one powder between .223 and .308.

Does any one have any loads for a .308 ar using varget and any of these bullets?

46 grains of Varget is not a light load. People seem to find a "sweet spot" around 43.5-44 grains when shooting 168 or 175 for accuracy, and if I were developing a load I would start below and not above that level.

Lots and lots and lots of us are using varget in our 308 AR's without a problem.

42.7 + 178 amax, 2.78 COAL in mil brass, 43.5 in win. Other good loads I found were 44 grains 2.8 COAL in mil brass (hot) which gave 2530fps out of an 18" with 178 amax.

168 loads I used were 2.8 COAL and either 44 varget or 44 AA2520(hot) which gave 2550 and 2600fps respectively.

I added a carrier weight system to mine and it seems to help a little bit with brass life, probably will add a heavy buffer and spring next.
