I wanted to share my experience with the Terripin (sp?). I just got it today and I have ran it through its paces. The Vectronix is by far the best rangefinder I have used. I have owned a leica 1200 and the swaro. The Vectronix is on another planet. I ranged over 3000 yards no problem. If you want a really good unit then Vectronix is what you want.

Re: vectronix rangefinder

I hope you are not surprised.... the Terrapin costs about 4 times as much as the other ones you tried. It was smart of Vectronix to come out with this offering that bridged the space between the top of the line consumer offerings (Leica, Swaro, Bushnell ARC) and the PLRF 10 through the Vectors.

Unit...............Range....Price
Leica/Swaro/etc....1,600......$700
Terrapin...........2,400....$2,000
PLRF 10............2,500+...$3,500
PLRF 15............3,000+...$5,600

The Terrapin will range as far as most calibers can shoot. The others are really over the top for shooting alone and cost prohibitive.

Re: vectronix rangefinder

I agree with you totally. I feel 2000.00 is pretty reachable if one wants to shoot long range. Not getting a range reading is not fun(hence the Terrapin). I have used military rangefinders but they are far beyond my ability to own. This price is acceptable compared to top end rifle scopes. One has to pay for their interests.
