Does anybody out there have any hard and fast data regarding velocity changes where the primer is the only difference in a rd? I normally use cci 41's for my 223 and cci 34's for my 308,but sometimes the supply of components gets slim.
If I recall CCI primers are on the hot end of the spectrum. I also believe CCI MIL spec primers are "magnums" Velocity and pressure are normally related but its not always the case. If it was ME and in MY guns, and I ran out of CCI primers and went to something else id load a few and go shoot. I also know my ammo is not on the ragged edge or hot/safe. One of the gun rags did some pressure and velocity testing of primers effects on ammunition years ago, you might try some google.
CCI #41 and CCI #450 Small Rifle Magnum primers are pretty much the same.
Same cup, same priming compound, same amount of priming compound. Only difference is on the $41, the anvil seats a little more shallow, giving more space between the bottom of the cup and the anvil.
