When you guys get guns in and the customer tells you it has been trued do you believe them? If if they think it was trued what says it was trued properly? I am thinking about building a jig to verify trying accuracy. It would incorporate PTG bushings and trueing rod just gotta think out the details yet

Re: Verifying action truing

Generally speaking the action threads will be a bit larger than factory. I would think thats the easiest thing to spot. We made a tool to see just how out of true the threads are in mausers. We simply threaded a rod like we would a barrel, and then turned down the rest to fit snugly down the bolt raceway. Instead of screwing it on like a normal barrel (tube sticking out the front of the rec) we slide the tube down the bolt raceway from the front of the receiver and thread it on. If the threads are out of true it become really apparent, really fast.

I often wonder myself. Especially since the work done can only be as good as the tools allow and verified by the measuring devices on hand. Big difference between putting a square on it vs a b&s .00005" indicator.
