This is a friendly reminder from your local funeral director regarding your DD 214 (Honorable Discharge Form). One of the greatest honors that I have in my work is assisting families with Veterans Benefits.

Please secure the DD 214 if you or someone in your family is a veteran and wishes to receive Veterans Benefits including Honor Guard, grave marker, survivors benefits(reimbursement of partial final expenses), and a flag.

I would recommend that you make copies of your DD 214, and make sure that the persons responsible for final wishes can access them 24/7. Also, you should have the DD 214 filed with your county clerk.

Yesterday a Marine was laid to rest without the Honor Guard because his family could not locate his DD 214. We exhausted every resource that we had available. We finally received a copy of his DD 214, but not in time to secure the Honor Guard.

Thanks for Serving,

Hunter
