So, after 12 or more years of pretty rough use I finally sent my Victorinox Multitool for repair. I've read about the lifetime warranty and hoped it would cover even my MT. But I knew I have destroyed 3 of the tools by using them for purposes expressly prohibited in the user's instructions - like "don't use the screwdriver to pry..." and I did. I expected that Victorinox might reply something like: "the tools were damaged by misuse and therefore the lifetime warranty doesn't apply, sorry".
But I decided to give it a try anyway. I wanted the 3 destroyed tools replaced. The rest was worn but more or less OK.
After few weeks the local dealer called me: "Your MT just arrived back from Switzerland, come pick it up."
Today I got there and when the lady gave me my MT, I just stood there and stared at it.
She asked: "Is there a problem?"
I: "Well, they replaced everything!"
Lady: "It was probably all worn or damaged."
I: "Of course it was!"
So, to finish it up: I know I don't have a brand new MT, because the handles are missing the painted logo. The service technicians just polished the handles. The rest is brand new, all of it. I only paid shipping (peanuts).
Victorinox rocks!
