VihtaVuori N555 Now in stock, Lets get some data!

Tagged following for a buddy that just bought a bunch of this to load up some 123smk.
I am working on my load for 123smk in a 22” 6.5cm, 42.4 has given me the best groups but are on the slow side around 2740 (49deg, 30%, 30.01hg)

I am going to load another batch 43-44gr and see if I can find a node and get some better velocity.

Keep us posted on your buddys load development.

Will do! Hes shooting a 24" tikka factory barrel, so i would assume his velocities will be on the slower side.

I have been working it in my AIAX 6.5 Creedmoor. So far I have gotten great accuracy and consistency. It has been a bit slower that H4350.

I found another node around 44.7 but I lost some consistency. I also ended up using a longer drop tube as these are pretty full case loads.

What are you typically seeing with h4350 and the 130 bergers? Your AI is significantly faster than my tikka, but that is pretty consistent with what i have seen.

It’s been a while since I have shot 4350 in this barrel. I have some brass in the same group and I will load a ladder till I hit pressure. I will try to knock that out Sunday. I will keep everything else the same.

Bumping up this old thread.
Finally did some initial testing with N555 on 6GT.
This was a pretty hasty load work up. I ended up loading 120 rounds .4grn above what I'd tested & headed for a match last weekend.

6GT
26" PVA Rock Creek cut rifle 7.5T
Prime Hornady once fired brass. Annealed, full length sized with .002 shoulder bump, trimmed 1.716, 21st Century .242 mandrel

I love to hear others thoughts on mandrel size?
My seating pressure was very consistent based on feel, but it felt low. I might try a .2415 mandrel if I can find one.
Charges were done on a chargemaster & I counted 4-5 kernels of the 555 to change scale by .1

109 Berger touches lands in my barrel @ 2.613
CCI #41
N 555
All seated at 2.583 COAL
37gr = 2809 avg SD 14
37.3gr = 2847 avg SD 11
37.6gr = 2865 avg SD 12.5
37.9gr = 2894 avg SD 9.8
38.2gr = 2907 avg SD 7.4 no pressure & not compressed
The above all shot under .5 moa with 37.9 and 38.2 a little better.

So based on that I loaded the rest @
38.6gr = 2920 avg SD 7.4
All velocities were with a Magnetospeed
Tweaked the 109 G7 to .298 to get AB lined up at 1000y
Never put a group on paper of the above load before the match but it shot well.
I've got about 15 rounds left from the match so I'll seat them deeper in .010 inc & put those groups on paper.

The Vit N555 seemed to just get better as the charge went up. It was a Hot as hell at the match today & zero pressure signs.
If I don't wind up having to seat deeper I'll try stuffing in 38.9gr next & that's going to be compressed.

The 38.6 info above was 5 x over the magneto & first shot was with a cold clean bore.
First shot was a little slow, then it got happy.

Has anyone tried this powder on 6 CM? I got 3 pounds sitting around and a new 6 CM build in the works.

Haven't seen anyone post results for a 6CM yet. You could be our Huckleberry!

It should work great in a 6CM. The powder Per Vit was really targeted to be ideal in a Creedmoor case.
In the 6GT it looks like I'll run out of capacity before it pressures out.

i shoot at 52,5gr ~ 855 m/s; could be +/-10m/s due to temperature
at ~52gr there is starting to be contact with bullet & powder; so beggining to compress

...

Just because I had this eye-opening adventure two years ago:

Have you ever tried different primers and measured your ES and SD?
I have tested a bunch of them, and the results were absolutely shocking.

Within 5 shots I had an ES from over 20m/s (m/s, not fps!) down to 2m/s.
And am just saying, S&B primers were among the worst of them.
Federal GM were the best in my combo (SR in the 6.5 Creed).

And just for the record:
I have no relations to Federal in any way, nor do I get money or anything for writing this.
I just want to give a tip to other fellow shooters who want to get the best out of it.

And yes, the Federal GM are expensive.

Cheers from the Black Forest,
Jay

ppl normaly get the best ES/SD out of S&B primers.

because new primer -> NEW LOAD DEVELOPEMENT for the best ES/SD. if you change primer when you did load developement with other primer and established the lowest ES/SD with previous primer, and than with this load try new primer, you are doing the whole thing WRONG.

I have federal 210M primers, but I didnt do whole load work with them. So I mostly shoot with S&B, because I did load developament with S&B primers for lowest ES/SD, and I tried this load with Federal primers, and Federal primers were slightly worse. but this is wrong, like I said. I should do whole load testing with Federal primer from 52gr to 55gr of powder, to see which primer is the best.

I would like to try Murom 7M allso, because they are cheap like S&B and I can get them, and most people are saying that they are the best. Federals are 4× expencier and hard to get on the right side of the ocean.

I have seen a few questions being raised about this new powder and real use data. I was able to buy two 8lb jugs on line last week, so I thought it would be worth time and money to give it a test.
Rifle Lone Peak action Krieger 8 twist 26"

144 Berger, Lapua brass, CCI 450

N555 loads starting 42.8 thru 43.4 (VVmax).

43.2 and 43.4 were outstanding. Numbers were almost identical. Velocity 2808, SD 7.1, EX 20.

Paper 5 shots, 100 yards.
Steel plate 5 shots 560 yards.

I believe this combination will work well for me
