Re: Vintage Tikka rifles.

Those are 2 very nice rifles! How do they shoot? Are you located in the states? Where did you come across these? I love old unique firearms. Thank you for posting.

Looks like a M595 Master Sporter

Re: Vintage Tikka rifles.

It's a M595 Master Sporter that I bought here on the hide. Originally was a 308 but the seller had it re barreled in 223. He was nice enough to send the 308 bolt face along. 1:8 twist med palma barrel cut to 25 inches with a threaded muzzle. I threw a atlas on it an it wears a gov issue sling that is more for looks than anything. I'm really enjoy shooting the rifle and its a tack driver, just don't know what glass to put on it permanently. For now it has a bastard scope so I can at least put rounds down range.

Anyway, Both the rifles shoot extremly well, I always wanted to own an M65-A, was going to buy a TRG but this came up so i snapped it up, and don't regret it.
I live in the UK, the M55 Tikkas come up from time to time, but the M65-A is ultra rare here with only a handful in circulation as fare as i know.

Re: Vintage Tikka rifles.

Thats a nice 65A , I have always thought they would be a interesting rifle , I just brought one in the UK , cannot wait to get it home to NZ and see what it is like in the flesh .
I know quite a few where used by UK Police depts , same as Enforcers & Parker Hale M85s & 87s .

Later Chris

Thanks, I hope you enjoy yours, mine shoots really good with factory ammo, and i hope to better it with homeloads.
As far as i'm aware a few recently came on the market that were Ex-Police, so yours could be one of those. I just kitted mine up with a Schmidt & Bender 12x42 that is BDC calibrated out to 600 for 168gn ammo it works, and looks the part, so i'm happy.

Heres a pic of some informal testing off the bipod at 100m

Four 3 shot groups at 1/2" target spots with four different batches of ammo, shot sequentially.
