Looking to sell two of my lightly used Leupold LRPs and will buy one of the two mentioned above. What’s the feedback between these two? Overall a hunting setup but will shoot long range too. Thanks

Putting it on a Tikka .300 wm

I was literally just in your shoes and opted for the AMG. There's pretty much no way for me to get behind an NX-8 where I am and the reports of a finicky DoF and eyebox were too common for me to ignore. I don't want to take the risk of having to fiddle with my parallax knob if a deer or coyote pop up under 200m from me. Also found the used AMG for a wicked price, which helped push my decision along as well.

That’s awesome congrats! What did you find it for used if you don’t mind me asking? I was hoping there would be more feedback. I can get. I can get both fit around the same price. I wish someone could chime in as to what they feel has the better glass, lowlight usage etc. How do you like yours so far? Yours is for a hunting rig?

When it comes to scopes on this level your not gonna go wrong with either, buy the best deal and move on, i run a AMG on a hunting/match rifle, it's a great scope, no experience with NX8

I'm in Canada, so our prices are high compared to the States but I found mine for $2600. Regular shop prices is ~$3600 before taxes and such. The NX8 4-32 goes for around ~$2800 new before taxes. Have only ever seen one or two used ones up for sale up here, and have yet to see on in person. I should be receiving the scope today, but I have looked through a few on a couple occasions and liked them. It'll be going on a crossover rig for coyotes and maybe for deer as well if I can get my hands on a CF wrapped barrel before next hunting season.

It’s here. I’ve looked through the AMG several times. I compared the NX8 side by side with my ZP5 and really liked it for what it is that’s why I ordered it instead of the AMG. The MIL-XT reticle on 4 with illumination is a winner.
Good feedback thank you. How’s it compare to the ZP?! I have a ZP5 and getting a second tomorrow. Love the glass, and reticle. Turrets on mine are nice and crisp with a good click. How’s the nx8 compare to that side by side and looking through? Is the scope usable or b the 4-6 range for closer shots?

Here's a couple pictures I just took through the AMG received today with the old EBR-7 reticle. My cellphone doesn't do the glass any justice and kind of has the colours showing up washed out, but you can at least kind of get a feel for the DoF and such. The shed is 9 yards away, branches to the left are 60 yards and the two tall evergreens in back are at 400 yards. Pictures are 6x and 24x. The AMG really feels like my Razor Gen II with 20 ounces gone and a more limiting 4x erector system. Won't be able to get a proper feel for it until I have my action dropped into a chassis.

The reticle on the NX8 is way usable on 4x. It’s a little muddled in darker wooded backgrounds but hit the illumination and it’s perfect. I’m going to just leave it on while hunting all day.

Side by side looking at the same thing on the hill about 400 yards away in less than ideal lighting the glass on the NX8 and ZP5 both at 25 was very good. I was really impressed. Resolution and contrast was very similar on both. NX8 was harder to get behind but not hard to get behind. Just not as easy as the ZP. I noted some distortion around the outer edge at all mags and a little tunneling from 4-4.5x. I set the diopter for me on my new NX8 and the outer edge distortion was greatly reduced. Diopter was tough to set but I eventually got it. I like the MIL-XT reticle in the NX8. I feel like the shortcomings the 2.5-20 has gets applied universally to the 4-32 and they really shouldn’t. The 4-32 is an excellent scope from the two examples I’ve been able to spend time behind.

Turrets are not loud but there is no slop. Mag ring is the perfect weight, no throw leaver needed. Illumination is easy and bright enough for day. Not a fan of green but it has both so it’s Goldilocks.

I've owned an AMG for a few years now and got to look through an NX8. I didn't like the small eyebox and the glass didn't look good to me. If you decide to buy one, make sure you look through it somehow. I'm glad I did.

Eye box doesn’t get noticeably tight to me until you get above 24, really about a quarter between 24 and 32 and above. All the way on 32 it’s still usable just tight. I don’t plan on using above 20 or so most of the time. In that range eye box is excellent to me.

I agree 100%. My 4-32 is great between 4-20. I just sold my second gen 2 razor 4.5-27 to get this nx8. Cant go wrong either way. Both are great scopes!!

Glass is right on par with razor I would say. Not enough to give the nod one way or another. I had a 7-35 atacr and neither are as good as the atacras far as glass goes, but you could damn near buy 2 nx8 or the price of atacr.

I've only had the nx8 for a few weeks but the parallax seems very forgiving to me at distance. Shot from 400 to 800 this weekend both days and hardly had to adjust it at all. I dont like that there is no yardage marks on the parallax, but I made some with a silver sharpie to help out. Oh, and I can dry fire in basement with nx8. Focus goes down to like 10 yards or something. Had no problems focusing it across basement in the house. Nice feature to have.

I had no complaints on the gen 2 either though. Great scope for a freaking bargain used anymore.
