Looking for a semi budget scope for an AR that will do 400-500 yards all day with the occasional 600+ run someday in the distant future when its not 120 degrees out and I have the patience for it. More or less its going to be a paper plinker and I just want something decent.
Previously ive had Zeiss, Leupold Mark 4 LRTs, and some cheapies and havent had a chance to try Vortex. From the hours of reading on here ive come to the conclusion that most of you say for the money, Vortex is unbeatable, but compared to higher end optics, the leupold has clearer glass. Heres my issue is with my LEO pricing, the leupold Mark 4 LRT scopes are about $300 more than the Viper PSTs, and 450-500 more than the midway model, but the Leupold Target model is only $50 more and has similar features. I dont need the illumination, the warranty really doesnt concern me because as I said, its going to more than likely be a bench gun with the occasional desert trip when it cools off, but that being said, id like to get the best I can get for the budget I want to spend. I looked at the Mark AR scopes but they seem a bit cheap to me and I prefer the 30mm tube. Not really interested in any other brands at this time as I get the best deals on these (I get a fair amount off the Viper PST scopes as well, but for $200 less I get the midway version)
Now for those who have tried the midway scopes AND the Viper PSTs, is there that big of a difference where I should go to the PST? unfortunately if I go to the PST, then the Mark 4 LRT 50mm scopes really arent much more, then I start going off into the $900+ range again when I was hoping to stay under $600.
If anyone has a review I missed, im very interested, I just dont seem to see anyone using the Mark 4 Target models.
