Don't vote if you have not ever purchased a Vortex scope. This poll applies only to those who have owned or currently do own a Vortex product.

Re: Vortex Optics Poll

Unfortunate things happened to the PST product timing. I'm patient, but I needed something before september so I left my PST on order and had to borrow a nightforce from a friend. Bad series of events in a row, but they handled it the best they could, and their warranty is unbeatable so they've reserved atleast one PST spot from me. However late it may be.

Edit: clarification.

Re: Vortex Optics Poll

I think a lot is riding on the PSTs. I am undecided as to whether I would order again because I don't have the hardware yet. If its solid when it gets to me then i have no beef with vortex.

Stuff happens. They have done the best they can with the situation.

Re: Vortex Optics Poll

I purchased my Vortex scope because of the combination of price, quality, and warranty. I'm very happy with the scope...several friends have bought one after looking through mine. Commission?

Re: Vortex Optics Poll

I purchased a set of Vortex fury binoculars when they were on close out at my local sportsmans warehouse. I bought them after the very knowledgeable saleman advised me on the company, warranty, and after looking through them as well as couple of lesser quality, more expensive contenders. I'm very happy with my purchase and so far(>2 years) they have been flawless after many trips into the field. Would definitely buy another Vortex product.

Re: Vortex Optics Poll

Not sure what the point of the survey is.....

Hell, you failed to ask the most important question.

Have you ever owned a Vortex that was a nice scope, gave you no issues and was the best value for your dollar?

YES

Press f5 to refresh, I edited OP with current results.

All of that can be inferred by answering the poll in a specific manner.

Re: Vortex Optics Poll

I could correctly answer NO to question #1 and have never even owned a Vortex. I guess I just felt that question #1 was poorly worded when I read it. I guess the thread could have been titled Vortex Owners Poll and maybe that would have made more sense.

Bygones....carry on

Point taken and OP noted.

Re: Vortex Optics Owners Poll

Answer 1:
I sent my Viper in because it was out of spec according to their engineer but it performed flawlessly to my eyes. Also wanted to upgrade to a mildot version. Got a new scope in return for my used one.

Answer 2:
I bought the first one used because of all three.

Answer 3:
I bought the rest because of the way Answer 1 was handled and that all three of Answer 2 were true.

Done.

Re: Vortex Optics Owners Poll

I have a Vortex Razor Scope and Razor Spotting scope. I have been really thrilled with the optics as the clarity was a huge step up from what I had - all Leupold MK4's so that was my first step up into the 2k scope price range. I took both of the optics to a UKD course in PA that shot to 1000 yards. I was amazed at the ability to pick out targets and measure distance. The spotting scope was able to pick up bullet trace to 1000 with zero issues but it was a nice day when trace was easy to follow. Before I bought the scopes I talked to Sam of Vortex and he really helped me in my selection. I know they stand by their product so in the end I chose them for their warranty and customer service but I was more than surprised at their optics clarity as well. Best money I have spent in a long time.

Re: Vortex Optics Owners Poll

I have the Vortex Razor HD. I purchased it because of the reticle. Also, it is mil/mil and front focal. The price was nice. The only thing I don't like is you have to be directly behind it when using it. That's okay if you shoot in the same position all the time. The glass compares nicely to my NF F1. However, after getting a look through a S&B 5x25-56 LP (P4F); that will be my next scope. Forgot to mention that I am undecided because the PST's aren't out yet. I would like to stick 1x4 on my AR.

Re: Vortex Optics Owners Poll

I found question #2 a little hard to answer. I would tend to think that for most owners, like myself, their decision to purchase a Vortex scope was a combination of the three.

If someone's main concern was price, there are less expensive optics out there that are certainly lacking in the other 2 departments.
If their main concern was quality (and I am by no means knocking Vortex quality), they would have bought a S&B or USO or a Nightforce.
As far as the warranty goes, I've never had a problem with a Vortex product, but from what I've heard from those that have, I honestly don't know if any company out there has a better
warranty. Others may be equal , but I don't know how you could get better (please correct me if I'm wrong). That being said, the best warranty in the world isn't worth much at all if the the quality isn't there or the price is out of reach.
I think the most common answer would be (if available)"Quality and features for the price", and I would consider the warranty
a very valuable feature.

Almost every purchase decision comes down to how much quality can I get for the amount I am willing to spend. At some point, there must be a compromise, unless you have unlimited income.

Re: Vortex Optics Owners Poll

I am sure this is aimed at the PST issues but, I bought a Viper (non PST) on Scotts (Liberty Optics) recommendation and am 100% satisfied with the scope. I am sure the PST issues will get worked out. Vortex seems to be a quality company and a friend to our sport.

Re: Vortex Optics Owners Poll

Vortex are good people. All they need to do is stay the course. In an ultra-competitive optics market their offerings at each price point (or class) are as good as anyone out there. I think they've learned some valuable lessons re: marketing and delivery of new products, especially in the internet age, that any mistakes won't be repeated again. It's been a bumpy road at times this year, but the cream usually rises over time. They are a resilent bunch over there in Middleton with lots of class and integrity, and we are happy to be a dealer for them.

Re: Vortex Optics Owners Poll

I emailed them when I got my first Vortex scope. I got an immediate response and have been very impressed with their quality. I think we all need to get off their back. I've never been one to buy the first year model of anything because of these kinds of unforseen issues. Most people don't share my buying habits.
