Has anyone used the new Vortex Razor Gen ll 4.5-27x56? If so what are your thoughts on it? I am currently running Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x56 so do you think it would be worth selling to go with the Vortex?

Are you serious?

Please go into the "Rifle Scopes" section and read the numerous threads on them.

I see this is your first post. Guys here can get cranky if you don't look through the threads or search first before asking a question. I don't have your NF scope, but do have a Vortex Razor Gen 1 5-20X50 and a new Vortex Razor Gen II 3-18X50. The new Gen II is pretty cool. The increase in glass quality is amazing and really apparent when you view them side by side. Colors really pop on the Gen II. I also think the eye box is much forgiving on the Gen II. I have not seen a 4.5-27X56, but based on the features on my Vortex GII 3-18X50 I'd say the switch would be a no brainer... Hope this helps.

is the gen II glass really that much better? on the precision rifle blog, the optical clarity wasn't good as other brand. Not sure how does gen2 compare against other brands now.

To my eye the optical clarity and contrast (color pop) was significantly better on the Gen 2 vs the Gen 1. I played w/ them a lot side by side on low and high magnification. The eye box and FOV were all noticeably better on the Gen 2. I know Rob 01 just reviewed his Gen 2 4.5-27X56 and mentioned the Vortex Gen 2 was 95% of the glass of his S&B. At 1000$ less its a great value, IMHO. My only dislikes so far is that the reticle @ 3x is pretty thin and the weight of the optic.

Wasn't the comparison on the Precision Rifle Blog for a Gen I 5X20? From what I have read there is no comparison. Totally different scopes and each a true value in their own right! I have a Gen I. I recently had a shooter of a US Optics comment that my Vortex was a great scope and that he really like the EBR-C2 reticle. Truly a seat for every ass but for me the Gen II will be topping my new build!

You are correct. The PR blog test used the Razor HD Gen 1 5-20x50. The glass on the Gen 2 (in addition to other features) are a huge improvement.

I see that and thanks for the response nickw. It was my first post and somehow I overlooked the scope section so I didn't see anything on the scope. Your response has really helped and I am really hoping to order one in the next few weeks. It seems like everyone is really liking the Gen ll so it does seem like pretty much a no brainer to go ahead and get it. If you ever get to mess around with a 4.5-27x56 you should let us know what you think of it

No prob. Glad I could help. I just ordered a 4.5-27x56 through Vortex. They offer a LE /Mil discount. Nordic components had then in stock (both 3-18 and 4.5-57) yesterday when I looked. Pretty popular so many are back-ordered. Good luck.
