Both in 5-25x56mm FFP mil reticle. Keeping it short and sweet either getting the Venom around $450 shipped or the Strike Eagle at $740. Is it worth $300 to upgrade?
Shooting on a 500 yard range, Seekins 22” DMR 6 ARC, will do 1000 a couple times per year.

Is that to mean that you'll be shooting at ranges up to 500 yards 90% of the time and beyond that only seldom? I wouldn't sacrifice anything that I might need during 90% of my shooting to have something that will make things easier a couple of times a year.

I suppose it depends on what you do with the rig. If it's a bench or range setup, 5-25 is fine.

If the question is more of Venom vs Strike Eagle, I've never been a fan of the strike eagle line. Vortex also seems to have put some effort into making the venom line the new bang for the buck champ. For the price, the venoms I've seen looked pretty nice.

Shoot, for the price of the strike eagle, you could have 2 venoms and have all bases covered.

The Strike Eagle has better glass than the Venom. The SE has illumination also. Have had both and they both will work for your needs. I like the SE more than the Venom personally.

This is pretty much what either will look like on a 22” 6ARC. This is the Strike Eagle.

Yes 100-500 on a weekly basis, have to travel a good ways for up to 1000 yards.

To follow the same logic, you can't dial a 5x down to 2 or 3x either. It depends on the use case.

Yeah but most won’t use that low for target shooting. If he wants a mid range then have at it. He seems to be wanting to target shoot and shoot groups out to 500 and 1000 at times. He won’t be using 3/4x. Hell he probably won’t be using under 10x. I’d rather have the extra 10x on top than 2x on the bottom. His money though so his choice.

Looking at something cheap to throw on a suppressed 10/22. the 3-18 SE a decent option?

I've got both. The SE was my first and lives on the 22LR I shoot most the time. Recently I 've been trying center fire with an off-the-shelf build (some assembly required!) and caught a deal on a used Venom. For my use, paper or steel punching at the range 600 yards and in, the Venom has everything I need. I've considered swapping the scopes between the RF and CF but both rifles are working pretty good now so I'm hesitant to fix what isn't broken.

I'd say get the Venom to get you started then do what I'm doing and start saving for even better glass.

I could be all wrong but worth following up-doesn’t the Venom have a rev stop if you set the zero stop? In other words, if using the zero stop, you’re limited in upwards travel vs taking the zero stop out and being able to use the remainder of the upward travel? I know one of the vortex’s is like that but can’t remember which one

Both the Strike Eagle and Venom have those. It gives you 18 mils when in use. More than enough for the OP uses.
