Anyone have a vortex viper HD? Pros and cons to the unit? I can get one at a fairly good price (15-45x model), but I want to see what the field reviews were before I dropped that kind of $$

I just returned my Viper XD yesterday. Had CA pretty bad. I'd assume that the HD would be better.
I have one (15-45x). Only field use is at the range though, but I don't baby it. I throw it in the bed of my truck mainly (covered bed) and so far it's held up pretty good since I got it in Jan '12. I will say thought the supplied lens covers and scope cover sucks pretty bad. Image is good enough for me to spot vapor trails and impacts at my normal range of 600 yds. I'm a happy camper.
Yep. It was $479 in Oct, when I bought mine, & was $699 a month before that. Now they are getting rid of them for less than $350. Now I know why.
But to the OP. I haven't had a look through the HD so can't help with that. But if you want an OK scope for $350 the XD might be a deal.
