Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP rated for .50BMG use?

Re: Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP rated for .50BMG use?

Absolutely, we put quite a few rounds through the old 50's around here and to be honest I dont believe we have ever had a regular Viper come back from anywhere do to recoil damage. The PST's are built better than those so even though they have not been out there near as long as the Viper we have no worries about them holding up at least as well.

Almost all .50's have a VERY effective brake on them. I'd be more worried about a 7.5 lb. 300WM or RUM. My boy's 300WM has devoured scopes so far. It weighs just over 7.5 lbs all up and it is brutal in the recoil dept.

I am putting my PST on a 338/378, I have yet to find a way to keep the scope still on it even with the brake on it, now I am trying to lap the rings, its amazing how much of the ring doesn't contact the tube when new

By the time he gets back from Iraq, it will be a fully braked, 16 lb., 2000+ yd., 30" heavy barreled 300WM. Recoil will no longer be an issue. Of course, deer hunting will now suck!
