I'm new to reloading for accuracy and am wondering what kind of accuracy you all have had with virgin brass compared to once fired brass.

I'm finding that in my 6mm super lr, after the brass is fireformed, it shoots consistently 1/4 moa better than new brass. I don't see hardly any if any difference in my 308.
My assumption is the minor dimensional difference prior to fireforming the 6mm to the chamber is making the difference.

Im guessing the more efficient cases out there would see a larger difference.
Powder type would also play a difference I would imagine

I think it depends on the rifle. I have heard of guys who get their best accuracy out of the first firing and a bunch of others who say they get their best accuracy on the third firing.
I would rather have on that does better after fire-forming as it can get expensive shooting all my matches with new brass... not to mention all the case prep involved.

I have done some experimenting with varying the pressures slightly between virgin and fired brass. What works best for me is to decrease the powder load by approximately .45% in new brass and I get the same accuracy between virgin and fired.
Specifically what I do is decrement the powder charge for calibers .204 and .223 by .1 grain, decrement it by .2 grains for my 22-250 and .308, and decrement by .3 grains for my .300WSM, 280 AI and .338 LM.
Works like clockwork for me.
