I haven't used the Gen 4 yet, but heard good things. I have a Gen 3 and i'm quite happy with it. The only thing that sucks is that the improvements made to the gen 4 I want, so now i'm thinking of selling my Gen 3 to get a Gen 4. I just have a feeling it'll be a never ending cycle of sell to get the latest. Once I have a g4, then the g5 will come out and it'll have satellite radio or something, and i'll do the whole thing all over again.
Other than that, it's a solid scope (mine is that is) and I would expect the newer generation to be just as good, or more likely better. Matt Wonders knows what we want, and he's giving it to us!

I'm shooting a g4 on my remington 700 5r 308 out to a 1000y about twice a month and shooting out to 300y every monday that I can. This scope is doing great and it does get a work out. Knobs feel good and easy to tell the clicks if you will. I can hear them as well as feel them. The scope holds its zero. The glass is clear as well. Keep in mind in a day of shooting we might go from 400y to 600 to 800 and end at 1000y. So the scope gets used a lot and so far no troubles. Thanks Mat for sending me a great scope.

Thanks for the input fellows, I had heard some of this stuff about the previous generations but not much about the gen 4 stuff. This is encouraging information...

not sure on newer gen stuff but i have a fixed 10x on my 22lr trainer and it does its job.
