I am a new member so please forgive any mistakes in this thread.
I need a .308 barrel longer than 20 inches with a 1:8 twist if possible. I will be shooting 168 gr. & 175 gr Berger VLD's.

It seems that the 20 inch barrel with either 10 or 11 twist is king in this caliber.

10" long? That must have been a finger graphical error! It is a 20" barrel. 10" long, I must be loosing my mind. duh!
P.S.: Where do I find emojis?
I assumed you meant 10 twist but then wondered if the powder in the 308 case would be burned enough in 10" to produce decent velocity. Turns out it would still be a lot faster than the BO. I've never had a 308 shorter than 16" and didn't like it that short.

Hi Greg: I have a question. Have you ever lived in Louisiana and was into Bonsai? Curious.
I bought an AR-10 barrel from Aero Precision.

Sorry, "No" on both questions. I've lived in NY, NJ, and now, AZ. I spent one day in NOLA on our way West from FL to AZ on our search for a place that didn't suck and freeze us to death in our old age as much as New York did. Laissez les bons temps rouler, mon ami!

My only other serious avocation has been model aviation, an antiquated form, balsa and tissue rubber powered free flight. I've been doing that more than twice as long as serious shooting; which I've been engaged in since our Daughter turned 21 in 1992.

I think you'll be happy with your new barrel; at least I hope you will.

May I help you further?

Greg
