Gunsmithing WARNER & SWASEY #3

Re: WARNER & SWASEY #3

I would use it mostly make parts, or true up an action. I was a mechanic for 30+ years so car stuff too(not engine machine work). I found this one for $1500.00, the guy says it works good but it looks kind of rough. Figured I'd offer him $750-$1000. Comes with tooling. He doesn't know how to use it at all so I'd need to go look at it before I did anything just to make sure its not some POS. I guess the biggest thing is to see if it will fit in my tiny little shop area.

That's what I thought. I kept looking at the pics and saying "man that sucka looks real big". Thanks for the input. Could you guys recommend a lathe for the home in the $1000-$1500 range?

Re: WARNER & SWASEY #3

I see a Grizzly G9729 for 1K looks clean. I think these are made in China though. Should I be Leary? Oh, and thanks for the suggestions, and I'm not looking to do any engine machine work at all, mostly accessories like v-belt to serpentine brackets, specialty stuff that no one makes. I will keep my eye out on the others.
