Who here loads WC844 for 308? Anyone?

I usually use varget but I have an opportunity to get a bunch of WC844 for not a lot of money, I'm sure it'll work for 223 but I'm hesitant to use it in 308 because I have heard it is really fast burning.

Nothing first hand. I have been told that it's best to stay at or below 150 grain pills with this powder. YMMV

It is similar to H335 in burn rate. Its a little fast for the heavy bullets. Might be able to get decent performance from it with one of the various 155 match bullets.

I used a similar speed Data powder (AA2230C) with LC118 174gr. pills. With a low load density 40-41gr., nothing spectacular, short cycled in my Garand. I'm thinking of getting some WC844 for M80 ball loads though. The AA2230C gives me 1 MOA M80 loads by the way. Some loading data shows H335 right there with BLC-2. Give it a try probably won't be spectacular.

Several years ago I bought several jugs of 844 from a guy I knew and I shot some really nice groups out of my .223s with it. When I couldn't get any more, I tried some H335 and it wouldn't shoot nearly as well out of MY rifles. Every time I hear there's some for sale somewhere, it always seems to be gone when I check.

I never tried it in my .308s. I generally use Varget, but, I picked up a jug of Tac, and it looks promising for .223, and .308.

I've used 844 with 175gr match pulls. From my experience I used H335 loading specs.
40 gr, nice load, easy kick, decent accuracy
41 gr, good load as well, good accuracy
42 gr, getting to heavy loads, accuracy declining

military loading of 175gr shows 46gr of WC846 (slower burning)

I'm current using just under 40 gr, @ 39.8gr it's giving an easy kick, and good accuracy out to 200yds which is the max at my range. I'm reloading 100 at a time so I'm going for brass life length and I can't shoot past 200yds so I'm not all that worried about past there.

used wc844 with 145 gr .308, worked OK

like others said wc846 is more suitable for 175gr (blc-2 data)
